Kidneys are a pair of organs in the lower back, one kidney positioned on either side of the spine. The kidneys fulfil the important role of filtering blood and removing toxins from the body. The toxins are sent to the bladder which the body then removes through urine. But kidneys doesn’t function well, toxins build top in our body and can lead to damage of other organs which could prove detrimental. Multiple Factors can lead to kidney failure including toxic exposure to environmental pollutants, allergy to certain medications, acute and chronic diseases, severe dehydration, kidney trauma, etc.
Cases of kidney failure are increasing. Upto 1 in 10 adults worldwide has chronic kidney disease ( CKD ) which is invariably irreversible and mostly progressive. The global burden of CKD is increasing in view of increasing cases on chronic diseases like Heart diseases, Diabetes etc. and CKD is projected to become the fifth most common cause of years of life lost globally by 2040.

Kidney damage requires life long treatment/ Dialysis/ transplant/ causes ubsequent organ damage /increases risk of infections. Its very debilitating, put patient and family under lot of financial / emotional burden, have a very high morbidity and mortality rate. Hence, it should be our priority to take good care of our kidneys.
